Who we are
Talk to Them (talktothem.app) is an execution mentor app for early-stage founders, operated by its founder in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Questions about this policy or your data go to hello@talktothem.app.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, used to send you sign-in links.
- What you tell the mentor: chat messages, your goal, startup stage, key metric and the hours you can work, and the weekly plans and missions made from them.
- Proof you submit: links and notes. When you submit a link, we fetch that public page so it can be reviewed.
- Readers, if you add them: their names and email addresses, and their views, reactions and comments on your weekly update pages.
- Google Calendar data, if you connect it: described in the next section.
- Technical data: cookies needed to keep you signed in and to complete the Google connection safely, and server logs needed to run the service and fix errors. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers.
Google user data
Connecting Google Calendar is optional. If you connect it, Talk to Them asks for three permissions and uses each only as described:
- See your free/busy times (calendar.freebusy), for the calendars you choose, so missions are placed when you are free. This shows only when you are busy, not the titles, descriptions, locations or guests of your events.
- See the list of your calendars (calendar.calendarlist.readonly), so you can choose which calendars count as busy. We keep each calendar's ID and name for that choice.
- Make a secondary calendar and manage its events (calendar.app.created). We create one calendar named "Talk to Them" and add, update and delete mission events on it only, each with a 10-minute reminder. We cannot see or change events on your other calendars.
We store an encrypted refresh token, your calendar choices, and the ID and time of each mission event we created. Free/busy times are used when missions are scheduled or synced and are not stored. Google Calendar data is not sent to AI models, is not used to train any AI or machine learning model, is never sold, and is never used for advertising. No person reads it unless you ask us to for support, it is needed for security, or the law requires it.
Talk to Them's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
You can disconnect at any time from your Profile page, which deletes the stored token and calendar choices. You can also revoke access in your Google Account settings. The "Talk to Them" calendar stays in your Google account until you delete it.
How we use your information
- To run the app: plan your week, place missions on your calendar, review your proof, answer your questions in chat, and send the emails you turn on, such as reminders and weekly updates.
- To keep the service working, secure and affordable, for example by looking at error logs and at how many AI tokens each feature uses.
AI processing
Your chat messages, profile, plans and proof are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to write the mentor's replies, build plans and review proof. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, this data is not used to train their models. We keep a record of each AI call's token counts and cost, not its content.
Who else handles your data
We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only with services that run the app for us, for that purpose only:
- Supabase: database and sign-in
- Vercel: hosting
- Anthropic: AI replies, plans and proof reviews
- Google: your calendar, only if you connect it
- Cloudflare: domain and email forwarding
- Resend: sending email
These services may process data outside Canada, including in the United States. Your weekly updates go only to the readers you add, through private links, and you can hide any proof before sending. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account is active. To delete your account or any part of your data, email hello@talktothem.app and we will delete it within 30 days. Disconnecting Google Calendar deletes the stored Google token right away.
Security
All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS. Google tokens are encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM) and only our server can read them. Access to the database is limited to what each part of the app needs.
Children
Talk to Them is for founders and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above, and for significant changes we will tell you by email before they take effect.
